What Are Eclipses, Exactly?
Eclipses are basically extra potent Full or New Moons that happen near the Lunar Nodes, otherwise known as the North and South Nodes. Whichever House in your birth chart eclipses happen to be landing in will indicate which areas of life you can expect to experience significant endings and/or beginnings that catalyze, develop, and/or culminate over the course of 1.5-3 years.
The ancients of Mesopotamia considered the North Node to be the “head of the dragon” and an insatiable point of increase where we tend to have more of our focus pulled due to events occurring around the time of eclipses that align with the energy of whichever sign the North Node is in and relate to the themes of whichever House it’s in.
For instance, with the North Node in the sign of Libra and 7th House of committed partnerships, we might find our future spouse or embark on a new business venture with a partner. The tail of the dragon, or South Node, is conversely a point of release, purging, and clearing out. There is a siphoning off of whatever energy is represented by the zodiac sign that the South Node is in, and events occur during South Node eclipses that lead to a stark decrease in or cutting off from the themes of life ruled by that House.
